breathers again
« on: 29 July 2009, 08:48:48 »

Guys I need a little help.
Got the tools, already cleaned and replaced some pipes, all that is left is the throttle body.
Going to do it tomorrow but first would like to know a few things to be certain.
1. what excatly to clean on the throttle body?
I mean I've read that I have to clean the butterfly and the small hole under it, and the small vacum pipe.
But can I spray Carb cleaner into those inlets (openings)  on the throttle body, also if I can spray all of them or just the one where pipe from the engine is connected and the acum pipe?

There is an excellent guide on pg4 of the Maintenance Guides section, shows you it all step by step - so good even a newbie like me might have a go :y

If you are doing it without removing the throttle body, you can only clean what you can reach. Don't think the carb cleaner can do any harm to anything as it evaporates anyway. Much easier to remove throttle body and make sure it is properly cleaned. Depends whether you have a throttle cable to remove - doing mine is easy (no throttle cable as it's drive by wire). Just 4 torx bolts and a new gasket - gasket costs less than £3.00 from local dealer.
