windscreen trim

the trim around my windscreen is very loose how is it fitted, clips, glue or is it just a push fit anyone any ideas

Its a push fit into a plastic channel that has a barb on it.

Sadly, the windscreens monkeys often use a pattern item when changing screens which is very inferior and the tim keeps coming out (had this 3 times with RAC windscreens).

Mine has come loose 2/3 times now, and had a new screen before I bought the car.  Wonder if it was an RAC jobbie. :-/

Ditto with the RAC clowns, had my screen replaced recently through Insurance, took about a week before the rubber bent back on the Motorway banging on the drivers side. Still waiting for them to sort it.  >:(

As a interim I’ve used that Black sticking sealant in a tube stuff, cant remember what its called but it gets used as a temporary roof sealant.  :y

From memory, I'm sure that genuine Vx windscreen rubber comes in two parts.
One straight jobbie which goes across the bottom, the other larger one going up both sides and across the top.
Anyone ....... ?

Hmmm, RAC windscreens changed my windscreen two months ago and you guessed it I checked and yes the trim is loose..... are they not professionals ??!!??

No....they are amateurs.....they ar a bunch of incompitent clowns who use second rate parts.

The cheap plastic channel they source is sub-standard (not the rubber trim) and I told them 12 months ago this and that the tool it was being made from was shagged.....clearly they have done bugger all about it.

If you search on here, you will find out about the 5 attempts RAC took to sort my screen and they only did it right when they used genuine parts!

Had the same problem this week with my RAC fitted windscreen (fitted 13 months ago).

Called them up and got it sorted under warranty. The guy came out and used GENUINE Vx trims :y :y :y

He told me that now the RAC have sold them they are getting a bit more say and have got genuine trims (Mine definitely were because I saw the Vx Label on the packaging!)

Better still, he replaced the whole screen again for me as I told him it wouldn't be the end of the world if he broke the old one removing it as it had a couple of chips  ::) ::)

As far as I'm concerned they have finally done an acceptable job and get a big  :y :y from me. However, I don't know how far the changes have filtered through... I was lucky to have a fitter who was both experienced with Omegas and proud of his work :y :y
