Parts from a 3.0 into a 2.6?
« on: 31 July 2009, 10:39:07 »

Right. Going to investigate my possible HGF further today, but if it is popped, then I was thinking (slightly beer-addled, I admit) -

I have the 2.6 engine in bits in my other car, from intending to fit a 3.2 - now I know there's no damage to the pistons or valves on it, I'm considering reassembling it.

I seem to recall that 3.0 cams will fit (I've still got the top halves of the shells laid out in order, from the 2.6, so no worries there). Can I swap the new oil cooler (using new washers) and CC gaskets over, I assume they're the same on all the V6s?

Cambelt on the 2.6 was done about 4k ago, so I intend to reuse the tensioners - left the belt sitting in a puddle of oil though, so I'm hoping to source a new belt on its own?

Plod suspension should swap onto the MV6, will the diff from the 3.0, fit the 2.6? Or is it a lot of work, and I'm better off investigating the oil leak and getting that fixed?

Inlet divider - the black bridge bit? Or something different? Is this essential for good running/ non-destruction of the engine, or is it necessary to get a power gain?

Helps with the 3.0 cams to get more power

:y

So I can do that at a later date, just fit the cams for now? I'm trying to save some time in order to get the car on the road by the end of the week is all.

Cheers mate :D
