« on: 19 August 2009, 15:09:20 »

Does anyone know what fuel per hour the omega fuel pump throws out? Also is there somewhere i can fine the info on various other vauxhalls? I only ask as i have an Astra Mk3 fuel tank & pump setup and i just want to make sure its up to the job.

IIRC, as a very rough guide, you need about 60 litres/hr for 200 BHP. You need a fair margin over this to ensure you have some return flow and you maintain fuel pressure. Might as well double it for good measure.

Bear in mind that some V6s run 3.8 BAR, IIRC, rather than the more normal 3 BAR so the pump flow will need to be derated to compensate for the higher pressure.

Best way, IMHO, is to run the current fuel pump with the output flowing through your fuel filter, rail and pressure regulator for 1 minute and see how much fuel you get out of the return line from the regulator. This way you are testing the pump in the same conditions as it will find on the engine.

Be very careful to avoid sparks and confined areas if you're doing it with real fuel. I would suggest using paraffin or white spirit instead!

Thanks for the info Kev, since changing the tank and fuel pump as the tank had a dent and the fuel pump had gone too it seems to be running great! ATM i still have the 4.0bar FPR installed and dont want to touch anything as its working great! hehe but would it be worth going back down to 3.0bar now the fuel flow is working correctly?

Going back to 3 bar will give the pump an easier life and shouldn't affect the running.
