Facelift front bumper parts
« on: 02 September 2009, 13:41:16 »

Hi All,

I picked up a 2001 MV6 about 6 months ago that has had some slight damage done to the front bumper, well actually every corner of the car is scratched but the front bumper is missing a few parts all together and I can't seem to find them anywhere, just wondering if I'm referring to them correctly or whether they're just rarer than I thought.

The front bumper has the front fogs separated from the lower grill by a pair of removable, colour coded plastic covers, I'm missing the one from over the tow-eye on the drivers side, the actual lower grill and there is a rubbery valance on the bottom of the bumper that has a huge chunk missing. Whenever I speak to scrappies about them, they make a sound like they don't know what I'm talking about and I've noticed a lot of the facelift or mini-facelift ones have a different front bumper.

Anyone have any ideas how to refer to them if I'm not doing it correctly and where's the best place to get hold of them?

Thanks.

I think you might find that you have a Pro Drive bumper which was a special issue on a few MV6 cars.

If it is then the parts will only be available from Pro Drive and are every expensive. The last time i got a part for a bumper was a lower grill which was about sixty quid

If you not sure post up a pic and we'll see if it is a Pro Drive one

cheers
Andy

What you have there is a Prodrive Front bumber (FL MV6 Factory Spec), the small cover is missing as stated, the bit missing from the lower middle section is basically a flimsy steel wire mesh that’s sprayed black, they tend to get bashed about till they eventually fall off, TBH you could probably source some steel mesh from somewhere, cut it to shape, spray it black and fit it yourself with out taking the bumber off.

As for the rubber bit, they normally fall off in time anyway, if it bothers you with a chunk missing, probably look better with it off.

Cheers for the help. I think you're right about the rubber bit though, I've been divided about keeping it on from the start.

Anyone happen to have a picture of the mesh from the lower grill, just so that i can try and match it up as closely as possible, I'd rather avoid it looking like a hack-job if possible, i like my cars standard but nice.

Thanks.

100% helpful, thanks, just what I was looking for. Time to get a searching online for some of that.

I've emailed prodrive to see if they have an stockists of the MV6 bits any more a quick scoot round eBay and the For Sale boards didn't show up anything, apart from the bits of bumper that I already have.
