Rear Windows Stiff
« on: 14 September 2009, 15:54:22 »

Both of the electric rear windows seem quite stiff. One stops half way up then goes down again . I can get them closed if i inch them up but they still seem to struggle and feel very stiff or tight if thats the right word , one squeeks like its really dry . I sprayed the felt/foamy stuff and it did help so do i need to take the door cards of and lubricate something ? If so what needs lubeing
Thanks  :y

i sprayed some WD40 on the glass then put the window up and down quite a few times, fixed a sqeek and made them smoother. That was 2 years ago now.

Take the door panel off and put some grease in the lifter chanel sqirt some wd40 around the motor where it lifts the window. Mine was quite bad due to not being used much.
They finaly didn't work at all till i got in there with the greas and wd40.now they are as good as new. :y :)

Think grease is the solution but before I'm sure you'll need to clean the metallic borders of the vertical guide because old grease will be dry.
I broke the plastic piece because of this and had to buy a new one so I suggest to do this work asap. :y

You need to get some PTFE spray  I know Halfords sell it and it works well and it also does not leave marks like WD40 does  :y

But am not washing the car.By using washing up liquid in the window channels and raising and lowering you are working the liquid into the felt runners effectively cleaning them, this will break down any grime that has built up over the years.
You would be amazed at "the trade secrets" that Rolls and Bentley use on their cars.I remember a punter wanted a glass sunroof in his turbo, before the roof was sealed a slip of paper and a condom was inserted into the roof lining telling him what a widget he was.As far as i know this has never been found.Or KY gel rubbed on to a leather door panel so the colour matched. Why the tech had a tube of kyj in his locker is unknown
