Aerial
« on: 01 August 2016, 10:28:42 »

Hi again all.
Before ripping the old aerial off the roof and replacing with a shark fin  (due to spoiler fitting), are there any other suggestions? Also, does anybody know if I would I need a powered aerial or normal aerial for a 2003 CDX Estate with a Philips CCE 2006.
Many thanks

Fitting a Sharks Fin is only going to make your radio reception worse over the standard VX Estate set up, the VX whip and Amp does a good job.

Personally I would leave it be, if your fitting a Prodrive rear door spoiler, yes they do touch the aerial when fully opened, but its no big deal, your car will probably fail its MOT or become a Classic Car before any damage is done to the either the Aerial Whip or Spoiler paint work.

Alternatively, long term you could source a Prodrive aerial ball adaptor that fits between the aerial base and whip and points the aerial more vertical so it misses the spoiler

Or just the more upright one from another Vauxhall. I have the spoiler and my aerial base is from a Vectra B estate (same as Astra G van). Works fine for me. Just make sure your connections are right before starting.
