2.5 V6 Tourer Rough Running
« on: 30 September 2009, 12:08:06 »

I bought my Omega last tuesday, a 400 mile round trip. I drove it back 200 miles with no problems, nice and smooth, but taking it very steady to conserve fuel, around 50 ish most of the way, 70/80 the odd time.
Since getting home, I took a 30 mile trip to pick up a CDR500 radio, and got some vibration, seems like it started after more pressure on the accelerator going up hill, stopped and checked wheel nuts etc, set off, ok again!
Out yesterday, running fine, then I came to a hill and decided to put my foot down a bit, and same again vibration, so it seems it's the engine running rough for some reason after some acceleration.
Could this be blockage somewhere?, breather pipes? any help would be much apreciated. I am waiting for delivery of a Haynes manual I just bought, so can't really do any checkes as yet.

I would start by doing the paperclip test first to see if there are any codes stored ;)

OK Guys. The only fault code with the paper clip test is 135, checklight voltage low, but I did have my foot on the footbrake while doing the test, so ok there. Pulled off a plug lead (not easy) clean as a whistle, the whole engine is very clean in fact.
Air cleaner element, almost new. Oil and filter needs changing, oil is black and not very tacky.
I'm just wondering if the fuel filter might be the problem? if it's not allowing a free flow, ok at slow speed, low throttle opennings, but restricted as I increase throttle pehaps.

Dis pack located behind the pass side cylinder head  could be showing signs of failure. A bit of a bugger of a job to do but can be done. follow the maint guide for info.

Dis pack, I hope not, sounds expensive.
