RIPPED OFF!!!!!!!!??????

Had to get a Taxi yesterday, my local company, picked me up in a meega facelift V6, all the extras apart from satnav. Anyway he tell me he just had to have the heads done cost hims 3k, the guys in the garage reckoned or tried the water pump and a couple of other things, then decided the head was gone. Anyway he now has it running obviously, not sure what the exact problem was. But 3k,  >:( >:(, I told him he could've bought a new meega for that or even replaced with a new engine for less, sounds like he has been ripped off big time ::)......................anyway gave him an OOF Cap, cost got deducted from cab fare :y, and gave him some flyers as a couple of other cabbies in the firm drive meegas too :y

So there's more than one of them around.... has our TD he been cloned?  :o ;D

He certainly was ripped off, but at least now he is aware that support is out there.

Alas the lack of knowledge can leave some people open to exploitation from unscrupulous types, in particular "professional services"...   >:(

Well I advised him to only let the local chinese guy, do basic stuff on the car, e.g., brake fluid, oil change, brake pads etc., as he is OK, and to let me know if he needs any parts, oils etc., and any advice to check out the forum :y, given that my knowledge is very limited and basic ::)

Am i right in thinking the heads don't or rarely tend to go on the V6's, sure this has been mentioned before by MarksDTM?

Thers quite a few about MJ........theres about half a doz that drive meega's for the firm i work for......not v6's tho.......4pots converted to lpg  :y

when I buy the car  it was loosing coolant..some people in local opel service tought it was HG..

Nope ..I didnt trust them and searched the net...see the threads from you ..thanks  :y

Well I will ask him on Monday, how much, but may mean a trip to peckham, he is good and knows his stuff :y, won't take too long 1 hr tops :y

I have only been driven in an Omega taxi once.....

Two months after I bought my current 2001 Omega, my wife was expecting and when the day came I booked a minicab to take us to the hospital. The car that showed-up was a silver facelift Omega. Now this is quite rare, not only because it was an Omega very similar to the one I just bought, but also because in London minicabs are usually run-down old (Japanese) bangers and a facelift Omega in 2001 could not have been more that a year old.... anyway this was the only time I have been in a Omega taxi, and it is indeed a strange coincidence....
