Central locking question
« on: 10 November 2009, 13:32:38 »

Seems like the drivers door central locking is getting a bit "lazy". When locking the car all doors lock except driver door, then all locks open again. Second attempt usually works ok. Same thing in reverse when unlocking, takes 2 attempts to get the drivers door to unlock.
Is this just a simple case of getting the mechanism lubricated or something more?

I bought two new one's for mine as they where doing the exact same thing. Thay are not cheap around £40 ish each as I recall but for me it was worth it for the piece of mind.

One thing to check first though is that the button will move up and down by hand easily enough, if not the mechanism could be stoppoing it from moving. When I replaced mine I did not push the little orange bit back in far enough and that was enough to even stop a new one moving.

HTH

P.S There are a number of different ones, and front and rear are different aswell.

Only the plastic clip on the ends are different, fronts are square, rears are round. Only different motor is drivers door as it's a 6 wire so it activates the C/L from the key/button, none of the other doors do that as they are 3 wire motors :y

Try dismantling your old motors and then measure the resistance of the normally closed contacts on the microswitches.
Replace the switch that has high resistance and it should work again.
Switch will be less than £1.
