whilst pulling away from a standing it changes gear as it should then suddenly loose oomf between gear change no matter what gear its in paper clip test say egr the valve is ok (done suck test) could the vac or any other sensor be at fault. the same happens when you floor it it drops 2 gears then dies if you lift foot off the gas and put foot down again it goes like stink. there is no managment light on

only thing i can think of there is boost sensor pipe has a small hole or is blocked? unless of course you have a  boost leak somewhere? intercooler are known to have leaks and boost pipes can split or pinhole is fairly common, and the plastic turbo diesel xconnector is known to be weak?

the only problem is theres not much space for big hands to go feeling about down below when hot ;D. the turbo powers up ok no obvious hissing.mine isn't intercooled pipe comes from turbo to inlet direct

Check for fault codes - particularly a 64

yip code 64 is there and how do you fix it.

I'll bear that in mind if I need any spares cheers :)

just by chance this afternoon I took off the inlet pipe at the manifold rev up engine slowly then a burst off full throttle. I cable tied a rag to end off hose to see air flow nothing (turbo works I took hose off and no play on bearings and moves freely)think  I got a burst pipe :(

The dreaded 64 usually points to the injection pump, and the fuel temperature sensor therein.
I don't think that this sensor is user-serviceable, though stand to be corrected. Omegatoy is the person to speak to regarding this. That said, I've known of several tractors which suffer the '64' and they seem to run really well, unless the fault's actually cleared and the code's now merely stored.

No intercooler?????
I've yet to come across one without it. As Omegatoy says, your inlet temperature must be sky high.

I think for some reason whoever had the car before me bypassed it Ive only had it 3 months(e-bay job) the fuel pump has been tested by a diesel specialist i.e pump removed and put on a tester (and thats some kit cost me £730) i'm begining to think the i.c has been holed.
the car ran fine when I first got it the problems only started when the cotter in the pump drive sprocket shredded. the timing is spot on.
its close to getting put out of its missery>:( (be better with a massey ferguson ;D)
might put sennyA back on road great old bus ::)
