TIMING BELT

HI GUY'S

WANT SOME ADVISE IF SOMEONE COULD MAYBE HELP ME I AM IN SOUTH AFRICA AND HAVE THE 2002 OPEL OMEGA 2.6 V6 BUT I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE AND THE ONLY ONE I COULD FIND WAS THE X25XE INSTEAD OF THE Y26SE AND I WANT TO CHANGE THE TIMING BELT AND TENSIONERS BUT THAT ENGINE WAS AN IMPORT ENGINE AND THERE IS NO AFTER MARKET PARTS AVAILIBLE FOR IT SO MY QUESTION IS WILL THE Y26SE TIMING BELT WORK ON THE X25XE ENGINE THE ENGINE NUMBER IS X25XE08051639 WHOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP THANKS GUY'S

i think only the backing plate on the tensioners would be different. someone will confirm.

SHould be the same - what was wrong with the Y26?

If it was cam belt failure you can use the X25 heads on the Y26

NO UNFORTUNATELY THE Y26SE IS TOAST    BEARINGS
NON FUNCTIONING OIL PUMP I JUST READ THAT THE Y26SE HAS 225 TEETH AND THE WIDTH IS 30 SO I GUESS IF I COUNT MINE AND IT IS THE SAME IT SHOULD WORK

is there something wrong with your caps lock? STOP shouting.

Tensioner is a different design on the back i think, as mentioned you could use the 2.5 heads on the 2.6

No the 2.6 engine is a gonner so i am going to have to put the complete 2.5 engine in but as i mentioned the timing belt doesn't look to well so i whould like to change it for peace of mind

in that case put the 2.6 heads on the 2.5, as that will already have the DBW gubbins

Ok counted the teeth on mine it is also 225 and widt is also 30 so i think i will give it a go i am sure it will work will just have a look at the tensioners

DBW - Drive by wire.

2.6 has an ECU controlled throttle, 2.5 is cable driven.
