ref davethedivers post about removing the filler neck to stop all of this, anyone know who posted it as i would like to do this to mine if its safe. just concerned if you do still get it, this would then go straight into the oil :y

Perfectly safe, the mayonnaise is a frothy mix of oil, water and air bubbles that formed when the oily vapour from the crankcase condensed in the cool filler neck.

If the filler neck isn't there then there won't be a cool space for the mayonnaise to form (but it does make it more awkward to add oil when needed)

Condensation can cause mayo to build up in the filler neck, it's nothing to worry about. If your HG had gone, it would start to overheat, you would be able to see oil in the coolant header tank.
Anythings possible, but from your description I'd doubt very much the HG has gone.

Spot-on Josh. :y

Because the oil filler sits proud of the engine, it condensates easily - probably when the engine has been run and switched off. The air around it will cool quicker than the air inside it, hence the mayo.
