Cam Cover Gaskets
« on: 28 November 2009, 23:27:48 »

As I'm useless with these things a quick check from "those who know " please.

I've got the guide printed out from when I did the 2.5 ... over 2 years ago now ...  the questions are ..

1) Are the part no's the same for the 3.2 for the Gaskets, o-rings and that funny shaped one in the middle of the plenum ??

2) The guide is written for the 2.5.. I know (I think) most of the differences for the 3.2 but is there anything waiting in the wings to bite my bum ???

3) TB and MarkDTM told me at Newent the job needed doing, wish I hadn't kept putting it off, car now starting to stink when sitting at traffic lights .. :(

Seal x2 no. 55351456   £22.80 each
Oring x16   90411826    17p each
Black goo  90485251    ?
All plus vat

Easier than 2.5 imho. Just watch the vac pipe and drive by wire plug under throttle body when removing and fitting. Plus you have lpg as i do which complicates matters a little.

Never bothered with manifold to plastic inlet seals.
And i re torqued my cam caps as well, but they where fine. May as well do plugs as well i guess?

also may find it easier to find a couple of bolts to screw into the brass inserts on the coil packs and pull them out via the bolts, rather than levering them out with a screw driver, or some other butchery, and breaking them. Just place a rag under the fuel pipe unions in case they fly out and wak the bracket. Rag also catches the fuel drips! :-) hth
