I can't imagine it being easy to remove with the engine in situ. There appear to be two bolts on a flange at the back of the block.

Can you undo the heat shield bolts and slide it under the pipe to expose the crankcase breather bolts?

bit of a nightmare to remove mate ( with the engine in situ )

my advise is remove the 2 pipes clean them with carb cleaner
the big one will fit on the end of your tap  :y
use a drill bit or screw driver the clean the cr@p out of the hole and use a saftey pin or paper clip to clean the small brass hole  :y

empty a can of carb cleaner in there and it should come up ok  :y
make sure the pipes are dry before you refit them or the oil vapour will turn into mayo and clog them up agein  :y

don't forget to give it a oil change afterwoods

A bit of information about the engine in the picture.

It was the engine in my 1994 2.5 V6. When I took the photo I was pressure testing the cooling system because I had a slight leak. You can see the coolant running down the back of the block behind the left hand cylinder head (cyl 2,4,6 or right hand head to Mr Haynes).

The odometer was showing 130,000 miles and it must have been 7 or 8 years old at the time. I had to replace some of the heat shields because they were rotten. I replaced the DIS because the metal plates were rusting. I took the breather off with the intention of cleaning it but the inside was so caked up that I gave up and paid about £40 for a new one.

People with much more experience than me have not found a problem with the breathers blocking, I can only report what I found............
