Hi,

Anyone know where the immobiliser module is located? I need to check there is power to it.

The immobiliser is located underneath the steering column & around where the key goes.

Think of it as an L shape with the long bit lying on its back. The shorter (now upright) section is circular and sits around the ignition key lock.

To remove it you must remove the two plastic shrowds around the column, it will help if you then remove the circular rubber surround around where the key goes (it clips in place).

To remove the immobiliser itself, use a small screwdriver and insert rom the LH side into one of the small gaps towards the RH side. There is a catch that you need to twist and it will just pop off - if you get it in the right place if you get my drift. A bit fiddly the first time though.

There is a single very small electrical connecter which comes off easily.

Hi Simon,if you want the actual immobiliser/alarm module itself its on the right hand side of the drivers footwell behind the kickplate (as you are sat in the car).The item the previous member was talking about is purely the chip reader that sends info to the actual module/ecu ,regards Moo

I'm not sure I agree.

The unit in the kick panel is the central locking control unit/central locking receiver for the key fobs/alarm control unit.

The immobiliser unit is the one under the steering column, open it up & you will see that there is quite a bit of electronics inside it.

I've swapped them independantly from each other so on the basis that the immobiliser is paired with the engine ecu and key chips - the fact that I swapped the one in the footwell and only had to change the press button part of the keys proves my theory. Dosn't it  :question

bit under the key barrel is the reciever for the coded chip in the key 
i think the imobiliser circuit is built into the ecu  :-/
