Got a leak from HBV (I think) on the Estate - anyone used one from these people http://cgi.ebay.co.uk:80/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370107025526&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123 ?  They advise its aftermarket (I know recommendation is to use Vx) but have had no reported issues on this item sourced from same supplier for last 4 years.  Anyone had experience of this item?

I would still get the GM one. Did mine recently, it was around £20 on trade card.

also used genuine vx,no issues with it 18 months and 30000 miles later,worth the extra pennies in my book.

Bought one 2 days ago ... part no 90566947, unit price £31.55. price charged £28.72 (TC card discount) + VAT of course.

so is it worth buying a "pattern" one

If you really want a G.M one make sure it is I got one a few months ago from the main dealer on t.c it was only when I got home I noticed it was  in a plain box and didn't have any G.M markings on it.

that is the cheap plastic one's on e-bay, see one at garage he had one from them only lasted 4 weeks melted.

This piece of crap cost my mate a job redo in the freezing cold because it failed within a few weeks, just blew apart! Asked me for my advice then he bought it against my advice. Showed me it and it is not well made but looks like a cheap 3rd world import aimed at the rash buyers market. Not having a go at you personally and as you know there is good, sound advice to be had in this club. If you really care about reliability and correct operation then use the genuine article. If you would like to most probably have to redo the job at some inconvenient time then use the cheap crappy unreliable aftermarket rubbish that owners use when they can't afford to run a high end motor like this in the first place. Over 30 years experience in the motor trade taught me that 'do it once with the correct parts in the correct manner' or leave yourself open to grief always applies. Also don't forget that old adage 'save a penny and it might cost you a pound', is right every time. GudLuk
