Sorry ! Stupid question. !
« on: 03 January 2010, 16:19:22 »

NEVER quite got this...what is classed as right hand and left hand side >  Sitting in vehicle or looking at front from outside.  Need to know regarding altering the lights for continental driving and moving the small alteration arms/levers.

Sitting in the car.  :y

As said on another post, your lights should be flat for Europe & NOT have the kick-up to the left as they should have for RHD cars.

Easier to use offside and nearside,no room for confusion then. ;)

That wouldn't work when talking about LHD or RHD cars though; offside for one is nearside for the other.  ;D

Best to use the nautical port and starboard.

The correct answer is as if sitting in the vehicle as others have rightly said offside in this country would be nearside in European countries due to driving on the other side of the road.Having worked on several army vehicles in the past they have both left and right hand drive vehicles so it was always as if you were inside the vehicle facing forward.I hope that helps.(It's not a stupid question having had to explain it to several young craftsmen time and time again,at least you asked rather than do something on the wrong side of the vehicle.)

No such thing as a stupid question .... if you don't know the answer you ask.....   however you might get stupid answers as they do exist ... by the bucket load !!   :)
