Try Partco if you have one near. Its what most garages use for non-gen spares and they sell for less than halfords trade normally.

Sure I paid around £15 for rear pads. I know some swear by genuine parts, but after having family in the trade and using pattern parts I just cant justify the cost difference. My pattern front disk/pads can still get the ABS on in the dry.

I personally wouldn't bother with cheap shoes... They'll come unbonded and you'll end up doing it again

I concur! ;)
Experience - found it a few times, not just on Vauxhalls either.

Dont forgot there are cheap parts and c**p parts. Motor factors sell to garages and the garage will normally warrant the parts. Just cause its not a Vaux part doesnt mean its poor.
 There are always excpetions though!

Try BuyPartsBy £12.56+Vat for mintex, worth the delivery if you needed anything else.  http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/brake-shoes-buy.php

I’ve just replaced my rear discs, pads, shoes and handbrake cable and both wheels now bind.  How much meat should there be on a rear pad?

Is it the shoes that are binding? That would mean they need adjusting. Pads would most likely be dirt or the paint on the side of the pad needs removing.

Handbrake is fine or will be once I've been able to adjust it.  It's the pads to discs that's the problem.  They are GM pads (93169001) but I thought they looked a bit deep at 13mm.

I take it they are new pads? If so were they a loose fit into the caliper? ie did they slide in (horizontaly) nice and easy. It is often the case that either the paint needs taking of the edge of the new pad where it touches the caliper bracket, or clean the caliper its self though it is normally easier to do the pad as it is in your hand. The pad needs to slide nice and freely forwards and backwards as there is no pressure to make the pad move free of the disk.
If that makes sense.

Read pads come in around £15 from dealer on TC.  Last set of shoes I fitted, Ferrodo from hellfrauds about 2yrs ago, were under £15
