Who is the Mrs? Ironman? They only go in one way and it would take a good old ramming to get it to go in incorrectly, I know that from experience with my own (same reason too) but fortunately I stopped her before the damage was done.
Paint a nice big white arrow on it like me!
Only one way I can think of to make it easy. You will have to try to prise it out somehow and the best way to do that would be to remove the changer from the car and take the covers off it. Any warranty will be long gone anyway so you have nothing to lose except your patience or temper.
Once its out and the covers are of you should be able to see where it jammed and prise it free.
Maybe luck will be on your side and it will work again.
