ATF change
« on: 24 January 2010, 16:19:48 »

What do I need to do a oil change on the auto box.
It's an 03 plate 2.2, never attempted this before.
I have read there are 2 sump gaskets and filter(s) one or two. Do they do a kit for this, and where is the best place to obtain this?
Mentioned on here are Jpat gearbox specialist, do I order from them or is it a dealer part. How much do you reckon for these bits.

Mick ;)

£60 for the bits IIC, 2 gaskets, and the filter. You need to drop box sumps, clean out the sump, replace the filter, re-assemble.

Fill it up again with Dex III, you won't be doing a complete fluid change, a lot will still be in the torque converter.

I got mine direct from jpat

http://www.jpat.co.uk

I phoned them, discussed what i needed, mentioned I was an ABS member and got discount.

Can't tell you prices as it was the old car and all the paperwwork went with it.

Not done this one yet .. summer job looming .. :)

So the gaskets and filter are as the jpat website this link http://www.jpat.co.uk/GM%204L30E%20AR25-35.pdf
It shows the 4L30E ar25/35 gearbox, is that the one I have fitted, it's for the 2.2 auto saloon not the tractor, that's manual box anyway.

yep thats the one, you can get away with washing out the filter as i did, can also use an instant gaskit type goo of the correct type but i fitted gaskits from the dealer, you can also get dex3 fuchs titan 4000 from any silkolene stocking motor factor, which is cheaper than the dealer stuff, although i'm sure jpat will sort you out. hth
