Engine revving again on tickover
« on: 27 January 2010, 22:52:48 »

Had this before, cleaned out the idle valve and that cured it for months. Now back again, had the valve off and cleaned it, not that it was dirty really but it's made no difference. Any ideas? It revs at about 1200 to 1400 on tickover and tends to push the car along when you've got your foot off. Not much engine braking at those rpms!

Also check the adjustment of the throttle body. The throttles should close completely (but not so tightly that they bind).

Sometimes the throttle stop grub screw is adjusted to try an improve a poor idle. This is incorrect all idle air should enter through the idle valve.
