2.5td engine mounts have failed!!!!!
« on: 26 January 2010, 17:16:00 »

Turns out its the engine mounts, they have  failed completely. What kind of job should i be expecting? And where does one acquire these heavy duty rubbers as opel quoted €272 for 2 engine mounts.

Thanks,

Eric

I should ask one of the breakers on here, they do seem stupidly expensive, have seen them on ebay for £60 secondhand  :o

Pattern jobbies were around £40 each (I think...quite a few years back now). Definately didn't make me ask "How much ?!?"
Changed them over the pit using the pit jack to raise the engine just enough to replace the mounts without removing any pipework.
Best to have someone above watching the pipes etc in the engine bay as the lump is being raised.

:-/ Got a nagging feeling left and right are different. As I said, it was a few years ago so not at all sure, but just thought I'd mention it.

Edit: I must have paid more than £40 each. They can't have almost doubled in price.
