Hi guys, My 2000 Omega estate 2.2 has full service history and only 64k on the clock and is driving me "nuts". On start up if the engine fires up Ok then the autobox functions normaly with no problems. If the engine happens to hesitate on start up (ie takes another turn or turn and a half) then the autobox warning comes up and the 'bugger' goes into limp home mode. Sometimes I can cure this by turning off and restarting but lately even that is proving innefective...............Your thoughts would be appreciated before I start kicking the cat if it looks at me sideways

You need the gearbox codes read, most of the cheaper readers won't read them. Where abouts are you Vic?

If the engine ECU doesn't give the gearbox ECU a reliable RPM signal the gearbox won't know when to change gear and will go into limp home mode.

Some people report that some of the 2.2's respond to the pedal trick (but most don't)

You're not THAT far from Alton then .... Kevin Woods has a full tech2 andmost importantly .. knows how to use it !!!

Thanks for the info', Alton is only twenty minutes away(normally but maybe  an hour & a half in limp' home mode).
I'm a Newbie so still finding my way round the site  and will try to work out how to contact Kevin  with a PM. I certainly need some help with the autobox tantrum...........sounds like a plan, thank you!

Change the camshaft sensor ......Mine was excactly the same ............But only buy a genuine part do not be tempted by the cheap ones off e-bay !!!!!!!!!

I too think its a cam sensor, BUT do NOT change anything until you have found out what the car thinks is wrong - you don't want to add unnecessary 'unknowns' to it

Typical cam sensor problem.

But, as said, get the codes read first.
