petrol smell on starting from cold.
« on: 04 February 2010, 21:07:06 »

I get a strong petrol smell from my 3l v6 on first daily start up only , yet cant see a leak. It runs well, but would hate it to burst into flames.
Anyone had anything like this before.

The fuel system, including the tank is a sealed one so if there is no visible leak I can only think that if the smell is only on startup it may well be linked to the cold starting circuit or the tank vent pipe leaking somewhere.
No doubt someone who has had a similar experience will be along soon.
I always carry a fire extinguisher to be safe.
