Window Washer system
« on: 09 February 2010, 17:51:47 »

Hi guys this is my first post as i've just bought a 2000 omegs elite estate.
I've a problem with the washers not working i read the help guide thats posted on here last night so i had a go at them today but to no avail, the car has headlight wash system as well so i took both motors out and ran water through them and they seem clear the motor makes a noise so it seems to be working ok just no water from the jets? They're not the same as the ones in the pics on here as there are no filter type grommets just gromets with a hole in the bottom.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I did mine the other week, you could barely see the rubber grommet...

The other thing I did was get an old washing up bottle, drilled the top of it so I could get the pump in the top and then run the washer pump, to verify the pump was working properly and that the hoses were all clear...  I also disconnected the washer hose and squirted the water through it to clear anything that may be lurking, (thinking I can squeeze the water from the bottle at a higher pressure than the washer pump...

If you fill the washer with water and it doesn't poor out where the pump goes in, the grommet/filter is still in place...

It is also easier to put it all back in place with the grommet on the end of the pump rather than grommet first...  I pushed mine straight into the bottle with the grommet first technique... lol...

You sure? :-/ Have you removed it from the tank after you've pulled the pump out of it?  :-/

OK! It looks like you could do with a 'new' one then. Perhaps the rest of the washer is blocked due to lack of filter  :-/
You could try as Psychoca suggests and try pumping water from a cup/bowl/bottle and see if it pumps anything. Becareful splitting pipework in the cold, bits can become quite brittle in the cold, use plenty of hot water to soften it all to split it.  :y  :y
