just like the old senario of- whats the difference between talking on a handheld mobile compared to a police radio while driving !!
To be fair - use of CB radio was exempt from the mobile phone ban for ALL drivers, not just police, although it is true that the reason given was that it will impact on the emergency services. But they also said that due to the fact that CB radio was relatively uncommon this days the exemption would not substantially increase the risk to the public.
:)Some of us wagon drivers use CB radio but usually only if 2 or 3 of us are running together. In 1981 Fm killed any long range copies but at least we don't interfere with emergency services. From what i've heard on the radio the "experts" (where would we be without them?) reckon a handsfree conversation is dangerous & these should be banned. I guess soon we'll no longer be allowed to use our cb's, car stereos will be banned, we won't be allowed to talk to/carry passengers & cabbies(i used to be one) won't be allowed to use 2 way radio or eventually even carry passengers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not against road safety but this bureaucratic bull has to stop somewhere.
At this rate we'll have to be supervised when we take a "sit down" Did you wipe according to regs.?
