Loud compressor style whining noise in engine bay

For around two minutes after starting the engine on 2.5l petrol I get a loud compressor style whining noise from the engine bay, seems to be battery side. after two mins or so it goes away. is very loud, turns heads! any thoughts on the problem :-/

Under the front of the passenger side wing, above the horns is a pump with a plug on it. Unplug it and all will be quiet. It's the SAI pump. Not really needed.
