Hello folks,
Apologies – probably bit of dumb question – recently had rear shocks and springs replaced on Omega Elite saloon. New shocks are standard non self levellers. All seems fine, but both rear wheels look like they are leaning in a bit, and now it looks like both tyres are wearing out more on the inside. Is there something that can be adjusted to correct this? Somebody mentioned that maybe shocks/springs are the wrong size, but I’ve checked the Monroe catalogue and they are the correct type - 25478. Could this be something else, or maybe not properly fitted?

Any suggestions, as always, greatly appreciated.

The "leaning in at the top" you mention is called negative camber. Most car suspensions are set up with some negative camber but if the inside edges of the tyres are wearing it might be excessive.

The amount of adjustment is limited on an Omega but it could that that that's all it needs so first step is to get the suspension geometry measured and adjusted.

I would recommend a trip to see Tony at Wheels In Motion http://www.blackboots.co.uk/. A little way to travel but it'll be worth the journey as the Omega can be tricky to set up properly and Tony knows them very well.

Then again, you mention you had the shocks and springs changed. I would say that that work should have included a check on the geometry, as, if the car had previously been set up on tired suspension it's unlikely to still be correct. May be some mileage in going back to the garage who did the work? Worth a try?

If you've had the standard self levelling springs/shocks replaced with non self levelling springs/shocks the adjustments WILL be out ... self leveling setup is quite different to non-self levelling as the springs are totally different "rates" AFAIK ...
