Overheating Part 2
« on: 25 May 2010, 08:28:28 »

Ok all parts changed and car was back running last night. I then spent two hours bleeding the systems (powersteering and water).

The temp was much lower and once the main air blockage cleared the cabin temp was good and all engine pipes appeared hot. However.....theres always a however, when the temp rose the fans were constantly on slow speed however it only cut onto fast speed once which I found strange and it only laster 5 seconds then stopped. I never heard it again.

Once I thought it had cleared enough air I took her for a test drive and all appeared ok and temp stayed normal. It just concerns me that the fan only came on once....

Anyone got any ideas??

I know the fans run on constant low speed with the air con on, but Ive got used to the main fan being on full all the time and find it strange now it aint on. Wheter its a case of the temp aint high enough yet im not sure. I will have to wait and see when I take it on a longer run.

Yes, have a beer and considered fixed!
With the front fans on (slow), any extra air through the radiator should be enough to cool it so the main rad. fan stays off on a decent, clear system - even with this heat (well, not so much today) and a moving car (at a more sensible pace).
I'd suggest yours is okay/fixed.  What does your temp. gauge say?  Unless it climbs, the main fan will probably stay off.
Have another beer.

Well Im guessing Ive still got trapped air in the system as the missis had the car today and came to pick me up and it was running hot again!!

This time the cabin temp was low and the temp would graduly rise up towards 100. It always used to run at 97.5 ish but is getting a little to warm for my liking. I have noticed thought that when its that hot the 2nd speed fan is on so that is working. Im guessing Ive got air restricting the flow somewhere.  :-/
