Firstly, I’m new and looking forward to becoming an active member.
Ok, A few years ago, we had a 2000 2.5 V6 CDX Omega. As soon as we bought it, I became aware that it was gonna be a problem car (you know when you just can feel it :-/??).
Sure enough, it began to be tempremental starting and running hot. At the time my Wife was heavily pregnant and even though I cured the starting issue (traced to a poor earth on a rusty bolt from crank sensor) (which took ages to fathom). I gave up and eBayed it.
Despite having problem after problem with it, I’ve bought another, for the reason that all you guys out there already know (These are Damn good cars) This time I’ve bought a clean 2000 2.2 CD Omega with 64k. There are no service books with it, BUT I do have all the old MOT’s and receipts for a major service inc cambelt etc.
OK, here’s the problem.
This car was my brothers, he owned it for 12 months or so, then got a company car so it had been stood for maybe 3 months when I bought it.
The engine management light was on but he had no known problems with the car previously.
When I bought the car after being sat for about 3 months, it started without hesitation.
It was very low on fuel so filled her up and I went for a run in it (about 15 miles ) some of which were motorway and it drove perfect, (althought the air con didn't work).
The following day it struggled to start, it kept firing but coughing and spluttering and then stalling. eventually I got it to tick over but it was lumpy and it miss fired when revved. after a couple of minutes it cleared and ran fine.
It has since done this MOST of the time that I start it but not all the time. It seems ok once warm ? or at least not dead cold ie, the following morning. If you know what I mean ?
This is the Wife’s car, she’s less than impressed as, in her eye’s I’ve bought another problem car. We have a toddler and a 11 week old baby. I can’t afford for her to be stranded somewhere, nor can I afford a main dealer to sort out.
The guy across the road is a bit of an electronics buff and plugged in a gizmo which read some codes.
They read:
P1130
P0170 fuel trim bank 1
P0335 Crankshaft position sensor A circuit
What does all this mean, What is Wrong
