Climate update question
« on: 11 June 2010, 21:50:49 »

When climate updates are installed with Tech2 are they installed into the panel itself or is there a climate ecu ?
The reason I ask is that I have recently changed mine because the buttons were worn, but Im pretty sure that the car had the latest updates installed at the Essex meet, so have I lost the updates ? :-/

I would have thought so, but am not technical enough to know.

I know when mine is switched to auto the fan starts up at speed 9, I was interested in the climate updaye and the fan starts at a lower speed I believe.  If this is the case then swutch it to auto and when you start the car and what speed does than fan start at.

But then again, after you had the update, what difference were there, and have any changed.

The climate ECU and the panel are one and the same, I'm afraid. And yes, it was updated at the Essex meet. ;)

You could always swap the circuit board from the updated ECU for the one in the cosmetically nice one.

Thanks for that Kevin. :y I presume the board swap is a bit fiddly ? I may get one of the clever chaps at work to do it for me. ;)
I suspected that something wasnt quite right as the "new" panel doesnt operate the same as the old one, fan operation seems to have a mind of its own in comparison.
Iirc you updated the climate, and were going to do the transmission but it already had the latest updates installed ?
