I think my car battery may be dying as well
« on: 05 January 2008, 19:15:34 »

Normally i would start my Omega in the morning.......run around in it all day.....sometimes switching it off loads of times day....but always started on the button ok the next morning.

This week i havent been well  :( missed working NY eve and NY day  :'(

Monday i did drive it for a few hours......so shoulda charged ok.

Tuesday i drove it for about an hour looking for a chemist open NY day......so again shud have charged ok.

Wed i didnt drive it........spent 18hours in bed  :(

Thursday I drove it 3/4 mile to docs to request prescription......then drove it 1/4 mile to coop........then 1/2m back home.

Friday afternoon i noticed it struggled a bit to start again (ie low cranking speed) and did the same route as above.

Lunchtime today i went on a run in it........but it only just started again.

Im am thinking the battery, but gonna check +ve terminal for getting hot........in case its got the same prob as James.........but that will have to wait until im better........i need to stay warm and clowning about under the bonnet in this weather is out.

A good battery must be able to cope with getting abused for a couple days i woulda thought  :-/

Batt is original.

It did but i dont think i did it any favours by letting it idle for about 1/2 hr with head/fog lights on.....probably over 200W the alt aint gonna supply that at idle speed  :-[

Tho i reckon the reason it went flat at Newent was it trying inflate your huge stella cooler  ::) ;D

Give it an overnight charge and check the battery terminals as mentioned. Also, check the charging voltage just in case. Otherwise, looks like a duff battery.

If it's getting charged a little slow due to a bad connection, a couple of short trips like this could have allowed it to go flat.
