Hello,
i have just purchased a low mileage 2000 2.5 tdcd and feel that there is a lot of travel in the brake pedal before anything happens, we have checked pads ,discs and hoses and all are ok and the pedal does not pump up. Any suggestions would be much appreciated ,thanks.

it might be the case of getting used to a new car my pedal goes down about 1/4 before it starts breaking.
gently put preasure on the pedal and keep it there( with engine running) and feel for the pedal slowly going down if it doesn't move its ok

mine was like this when I got it but had been laid up for a few months,I replaced all the pads and carried out a fluid change and this improved it considerably

Hello Thanks for the speedy replies , the brake pedal pressure is good and the brakes themselves are v strong and balanced i ll try bleeding and see if there is an improvement

If the brake fluid is dirty, then a fluid change wouldn't hurt. It may just solve your problem and doesn't cost a fortune.
