radio removal

hi i have a 2001 mv6 estate and need to remove the radio to have it recoded ive got the correct keys but for some reason it wont budge the front part has come of is this all i need or do i have to remove the whole radio if so hows the best way to get it out the radio is a cdr 2005 vdo thanks.

Sounds like from your description that you've accidently pulled off the front panel ?.

When you've put the 'keys' in, have you pushed them and till they kind of 'click' into place.  Once this is done, try using a body filer spatular to gently ease one side of the unit a little to see if there is movement, then the do the other side to see if it also moves. and then other side again, and again the other side, Do this first, then gently use the keys to see if it will pull out ?.

If you're needing quite abit of force, then somethings not quite right.

Sounds like you have ONLY removed the 4 small grub screws (These are just a security feature to stop thieves using the correct tool to remove the full radio)

Have you used the correct radio removal tools?

You can get them from Halfords or any motor factors for a few quid.


Miss read your post thought you were on about Radio Key code :-(

Put them in fully and push hard this will lock them in place, then wiggle about while pulling and it will come out eventually.
