Surging and Losing Power
« on: 29 July 2010, 15:56:29 »

Hi All

My 2.2 Auto every so often the rev counter will surge whilst idling or driving at slow speeds and whilst attempting to pull off it will just lose power for a few seconds and then surge up.

Yet this is every week or so then it can be fine for a week!

Any advice to someone who knows not much mechanically about cars but doesn't want to be ripped off by a garage!

Thanks in advance!

The same thing was happening to my Vauxhall Vectra 2.2.
Turned out to be the fuel pump.
Even the diagnostic machines did not pick up on it.

After a £70 fix, all was working great again.

Don't forget to change the fuel filter first....you could save the cost of a pump!!
