Not knowing which category my car falls into makes ordering spare parts a nightmare. Does my '96 2.5 td cdx
belong to the:
Omega A
Omega B
Facelift
Pre-Facelift
Other

As you may have guessed, I'm new to this.

I think it's B pre face lift, although I'm sure some one more knowledgeable than me will advise if I'm wrong.

Thanks geoffr70 for the speedy reply, I had searched but could find no information on the category splits.
No doubt there will be a guide somewhere stating year of manufacture or chassis number to distinguish the category.

Here is a guide on omegas, think it's on facelifts and onwards though. I believe the changeover year is 2000. Therefore I believe yours is B pre facelift

That guide would certainly confirm that I have a pre-facelift, just need to confirm now if it is A or B.
I will check back tomorrow.

Thanks for your help.

What was known in the rest of Europe as the Omega A, we in the UK knew as the Carlton. All UK Omegas are Omega B,s.
Prefacelift was from 96 until around 99ish
mini facelift until 2000
Facelift 2000 2003.
Hope that helps. :y

abit more information....

the Omega was built on what was known as the V-car platform, first used in the early seventies and kept very similar right up to 2003 with the last Omega B.

Senator A and Monza was the first proper V-car. That's the square-shaped car

Senator B and Omega A is the second iteration of V-car. That's the Vauxhall Carlton and the rounded-shape Senator beloved of police forces everywhere

Omega B is what you and I know as the Vauxhall Omega.

The Vauxhall Omega ( Omega B ) has had two facelifts, the first being called the "mini-facelift", where the grille and headlamps were changed, the second being a full facelift where the bumpers, etc. were changed.

Actually, the Omega B (for the continent) was sold from 1993 (though as 1994 models I think).

Here in Norway we usually call the pre-facelifts Omega B1 and facelifts B2. I have yet to see a mini facelift here, but they might exist.

Just a sidenote: You have mostly V6 engines in the UK, but the most common engine I have seen advertised here is the X20SE (yep, 8 valve 115 hp)..

Omega-B ran from MY1994 to MY2003  (MY = Model Year). MY tends to run from early autumn of the previous year.

I would suspect you have mini facelifts (MY 1998 and MY1999), as all Omegas rolled off the same production line.

8v 2.0l is pretty rare in the UK. I imagine horribly underpowered.
