2.2 facelift EGR
« on: 28 August 2010, 15:52:01 »

hi  :)

Just to ask is there any reason for blanking the EGR on a 2.2 other than the fact that you dont have to clean it.

Have read somewhere on the forum that you only get a performace gain on the v6 or something,
so other than just to be lazy and blank it off so no more cleaning, will there be any negative effects on the running of the car?

cheers  ;)

EGR feeds exhaust gases back into your inlet so reburning them, true it doesn't make a huge lot of difference on a 2.2, but do you really want exhaust gases in your inlet?

Well just me wanting to be lazy really . :-[

Rather than cleanining it again a while down the line.

The car is 10yrs young and can see no reason why it wont last for a long time to come if taken care of.
Giving how easy they are to service and replace parts (cheap too in most cases  ;D ).

Was just curious that if blanking it would have minimal effect in the long run.

Oh well if it's worth doing, suppose it's worth doing right. Off to go get dirty again  ;D

Do you think the TB needed cleaning? lol..............
