Stupid question time re Omega alloy fitment..
« on: 15 November 2010, 16:56:48 »

Am I right in thinking that any Omega alloy will fit any Omega, since the suspension & brake setup was the same for all years (with the exception of the switch to vented rear discs in late models)?

I ask because I was looking on fleaBay for cheap alloys to throw a set of winter/snow tyres on, and found these cheap:

Unless of course those are the infamous toffee alloys.. :)

(Honestly I'm trying to outweight the stupid questions with useful posts ;D )

Others with more knowledge than me will offer more info., but some Omegas have 15", some have 16" and some have 17".

Yep - mine has 17"s, for example.. but I was wondering whether (and I think they will) a set of 16"s from an earlier/lower end model would fit - as that would be cheaper for winter tyres (and probably better in the snow as the tyres can be narrower)

Those arent the infamous "toffee alloys", which at least rules out one of your queries. :y

Excellent - the last thing I'd want is to pick up a very large set of paperweights ;D

The stud patterns will be the same. You might get some slight errors in the speedo and sat nav speed indications if the revs per mile of the tyres are different (some devices are coded with the wheel size). Pick a size that isn't vastly out and it'll be OK though. :y

Speedo errors I can cope with ;) just as long as any Omega wheel will clear the calipers on the 3.2 :)

The front brakes were all the same bar some early 2/3rds engine models. :y

inch wise i believe you can go all the way to 19 stud pattern is 5x110 with an et of 35 (as opposed to fwd cars) i think you can also put on a stud pattern of 112 but to answer your question if it's from an omega it should fit!, just had my winter tyres fitted today (bit overdue :-[) as i don't have an extra set of rims for my mazda, yet another job i didn't get around to sorting!!
