Broken headlight adjuster
« on: 26 December 2010, 10:25:44 »

I bought two ally headlight adjusters. In the advert http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1273236108 it says for post 98 Hella equipped cars.

Am I right in thinking that earlier cars like my 97 pre mini facelift Elite with HIDs but non xenon Hella lights will also take these ally adjusters?

Hi
I'm confused, HID's are xenons (although xenons are not necessarily HID), also pre-minifacelift did not have HID's unless the car has been converted in later life.  Anyway, although the adjusters are not quite the same between the early and late h/lamps, I have successfully fitted early adjusters to late h/lamps so I would say that they are interchangeable.

Elite now gone.  Bought an X-Type 4x4.  If there had been an Omega 4x4 I would have bought that instead.  We really liked the Omega, but I wanted 4x4.

97 can have early or late headlamps iirc. 96 definately has the earlier type with full ribbing on the lenses, late 97 definately has projectors but early 97??

Are you sure it has HIDs? with the high voltage pack on the back of the lamp? or is it just projector lenses with halogen H1 bulbs?

If the broken adjuster is black plastic (look for bits or use a mirror to look up into the top of the lamp through the hole in the back) then the metal adjuster should fit. If it is a white adjuster then you have the earlier lamp and the metal replacements will be too long. I have some spare white adjusters if you need one.

mmm too much lunchtime Christmas cheer. sorry for the confusion.

The mini facelift has HIDs proper with xenon bulbs etc.

The 97 pre facelift has projector lights with H1 bulbs. I have sent off for a pair of nightbreakers to improve them. I will try your mirror trick for colour of adjusters.
