This info relates to the 2.5 TD. I don't know if you have the same.

Start of injection sensor:

The start of fuel injection is registered by this sensor which is incorporated in No 4 injector.
The sensor consists of a coil which surrounds the
shaft of an extended injection needle. The coil is fed a DC supply from the ECM which produces a magnetic field.
When the needle is moved under the influence of fuel pressure, the magnetic field is disturbed which
induces an AC voltage in the coil. The induced voltage is registered in the ECM as a reference point for the start of injection.

Thanks guys.

The breakdown guy said he thought EGR valve but he didnt bother looking.

Other recent posibly connected syptoms have been a reluctance to start in a morning, a small few coughs on motorway run but very occasionaly. almost like mini misfires. It even went through a spell of driving like it was on Nitro when it was a damp misty day! It just felt like it had so much more power.

I had an Ex Police MV6 before this and it never missed a beat. This Diesel has been a pain!

If StevePugh could let me know his resolve I would be grateful.
