Hi all, this morning had a bit of snow so popped to the petrol station in the omega autobox was in snow mode,stopped at garage fuelled up got back in car ,ignition would not allow the key to turn and gears were stuck in park made a few frantic calls to the aa got back in car ten mins or so later tried turning the key and everything started up as normal,what could cause this to happen in the first place.

Did you have your foot on the brake pedal.? obvious I know but we All have mad moments !

Yep, sounds like ignition barrel. Remove it while you still can and refurb as in the maintenance guide.

It doesn't seem specific to Omegas. My similar aged Astra is reluctant to give you the key back when you turn off too, even though it's a different key profile.
