Bust his TD fuel filter bolt!! Anyone got one??
« on: 29 January 2011, 13:46:51 »

Hey all,

My mate and his skilful ways has just sheared the bolt that goes in the top of the fuel filter on the BMW TD engine.

Apparently he has got  all the bolt out, so its not a case of fishing that out, at elast, but this now means the fuel line isnt connected to the engine, which is causing some starting issues  :D ;D

If anyone has any suggestions / has one kicking around / happens to know that a radiator bolt fits just the same (I am an optimist) I'd be very grateful. And he will be tremendously grateful.

Ta!

YES! There was some debate as to what it actually is, I seemed to think its a banjo bolt. Yes it is, its the largest one on top. Thanks.  :y

Go to a breakers and get any diesel filter and splice it in to the current system as longs its got a bango.
If im right the 325/525 bmw has the same filter.
But as a last resort cut both bango's off either side the filter leaving about 2" either side so you can re-attach when you get a new one and use a piece off copper 8mm pipe to by-pass filter.
ONLY DO this as a GET YOU HOME DON'T drive for weeks without a filter or the injector pump will fill with water.
