flushing the coolant system
« on: 21 February 2011, 09:05:39 »

hi there again

im just woundering, right done the hg,now i seem to have a big big air lock, but im also woundering if maybe i have a blockage in the coolant system some where

i no the heater matrix is clear as before doing the head i had done the hose pipe test on it and it ran throw it lovely (both ways)

also i no the head its self is clear as had it off and cleaned etc while doing the hg

but seeing now all pipes apart from the heater matrix outlet pipe all the way to the bottom pipe seem to get warm ,i think i either have one hell of a air lock from the heater matrix to the bottom rad hose or maybe a blockage????

that would explain why my temp gauge keeps going off the scale but the system /pipes  dont seem too hot!(or knackered sensor)

so how can i flush the HOLE COOLANT SYSTEM to ensure theres no blockages???? i assume it would have to be warm as well else the thermosate would not let  it totaly flush

cheers
griff

??????? could i have got the pipes on the hbv the wrong way round?
if i had put the inlet pipe one the hbv outlet by mistake and vice a versa would that in turn stop coolant entering the hbv and getting to the heater?????

if i remember from memory
the top hbv pipe is running to the  heater matrix pipe (top one throw the bulkhead, and the lower one to the lowerone throw the bulkhead (that one links and goes to the bottom large hose)
