Knowing as i do, firsthand,  how pleasant and well spoken James can be....   even when trying to make a point, i'd say that the idiot harassing the poor lass had the threat, and it's ultimate action, coming to him.....

i'm torn between wishing he HAD been knocked on his arse minus dental appendages, and perhaps learning some modicum of socially acceptable deportment, and being glad James wasn't put in such a position of having to do so...   because of all the fall out than can come with it...

I too would have had " a quiet word" with the chap, however i'm considerably bigger than James, and despite being gifted with full command of the English language, and able to speak "posh  like" , most people take such actions on my part as a threatening move, and react accordingly....  (according to them anyway... ) . So my encounter might not have come to such a passive ending....  which would have been  a shame .

Looking back on reflection, you would always do things a little differently.

I regret lots of things.... but I don't regret this :)

I was also once hit in the face by a drunk with no warning or provocation, and nothing came of it. I had a letter from the courts to say if I didn't reply, the offence would be "taken into consideration" with several simelar ones.

They should have thrown the book at him...

That would have knocked his teeth out.. ;D ;D ;D ;D..sorry James, its no joke and you know my feelings on the matter.
