« on: 23 March 2011, 18:40:24 »

Hi  Guys :-?

went out to me car about an hour ago, pressed the key fob to open me doors and nowt happened  :o
pressed it a few times and still nothing
looked at the key fob and noticed no red light coming on!
so, stuck my key in and alarm went off!  >:(
soon as i turnt engine, she started and i drove off

went in to town, parked in the high street and pressed the keyfob and its light came on!

new key fob battery needed?
i have only got one key for this car  :-[
what batteries do i need?

or is this the above happening because to avoid my alarm going off for the last 3 years, i have to press that Switch in the car with the "running man" symbol if you all know the switch i mean?

re sync the fob to the car
Get in turn, the ignition to on but do not start the engine, close the door and press the lock button, the locks should cycle once.
Job done. :y

If it's an intermittent fault, then suspect one of the legs has broken on the PCB.... happened to me a couple of years ago, but if you're handy with a soldering iron it is an easy fix.

Or if the OP has the "horseshoe" type key with the detachable fob, send it to Martin for repairs

i turnt the ignition on, the notch just before you start the car....  and then pressed the key fob lock button, nothing happened? is that right? what should happen?

i`m also going to buy a new battery anyway, how long do you get to open the fob and put a new battery in and shut it again, before you have to get it recoded?

As long as you like, you may have to resync as above but that's all.
If you change the battery be careful of the little chip that sits in one side of the horseshoe blade.
Lose that and it'll never start.
It's a good idea to stick it into the slot in the horseshoe with a dab of superglue to be on the safe side.
