Rear Coil Springs
« on: 24 March 2011, 16:39:25 »

1) Anyone give me an idea of how much a pair of rear springs are for a 2.5V6 F/L ?
2) Apparently there are 2 types of spring to the rear i have been told how do i know which one i want without taking old ones off?
3) Can other models springs be fitted eg... estate, diesel, 2.0L/3.2L etc etc etc

does it have self leveling suspension?
if not then any springs from a v6 car will fit, but might not have the same ride characteristics, ie harsh or too soft. :y

Ok then you can use any springs for a v6 car.Have you got  broken spring ? contact any of the breakers on here in the parts for sale section and you should be able to get a pair from them at a resonable price. :y

Rear springs are usually marked with a 2 letter code for example: LA  LU or similar'

Expensive new from VX  on my car they were £238.00 + vat a pair+ labour, back in 2007 .

Best bet is decent used set from a breaker or from parts for sale section on here . Try & match the code or make sure they come from a 2.5 CDX model :y

Self levelling has a small air pipe going to the upper part of each shock absorber . you can see this from under the wheelarch :y :y :y :y

There is quite a  list of different types.    If you identify what is on your car at present -  then get the same to replace them - you should be right.

On my car they are marked on the outer of the coil in white paint. you should see it if you get under the rear of the car & look up at the springs. you may have to clean a bit of road dirt off them though.

Someone more knowledgable may be able to supply you with the full list from the EPC.  In fact it was posted on here a few weeks ago when i was trying to indentify my own springs.

Sorry but don't know how to link you to that post (PC Dim Wit me you see)       :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-

Got a pair of very good condition saloon rear s/l springs here if you are interested in them.

Bought some time ago with the s/l shocks but already have somebody who has earmarked them so springs only.

Drop me a p/m if interested.
