Slow accelerating 3.2

Is my 3.2 feeling ill? Planted my foot from about 20mph and acceleration felt very slow, just as it did the other day. Later on i engaged sport mode and turned TC off and did the same but felt faster. I know in theory there should be sod all difference economy mode and sport mode when in WOT but car did feel a bit faster.

So why does my car feel so slow unless in sport mode even during WOT? Doesnt even scare the missus and my old 1.4 Polo used to frighten her.

3.2s are moody buggers - sometimes they go like the clappers and others they don't want to know..god knows why! :-/
