Engine problem!
« on: 12 April 2011, 14:33:27 »

Hi. My engine died,7 days ago because of bad oil...  :'(
Now i am having problem to find same engine. I HAD 2.5 Y25DT 110kW (150hp). Main problem is cause i live in Serbia, and there is no such engine to buy here. But I think that this engine is from E39 BMW 525 TD , so i need to know if can put that engine in my omega? I am asking u because there is lots of BMW engines to buy here, so I need to know if its possible to do that? Please help me, I am desperate ...  :'(

yep..its the same engine but yours is de-tuned version not to chew up the gearbox as far as I know..

Y25DT is modified BMW M57D25-Diesel-engine..

Ok, thanks for answer. But now I search on google and it says that BMW M57D25 163 PS (120 kW; 161 hp) at 4000, 350 N·m (260 lb·ft) at 2000-2500, and I chiptuning my omega up to 185hp and 355Nm at 1750 rpm...and everything work fine for about 5 years...
If we put in side fact of chewing up gear box, can i normally take engine from BMW (M57D25) and put it in my omega? is there any technical or mechanical problems?
P.S. just to be clear my engine didn't die because of chip tuning, but because of bad oil which clog the oil pump, so engine run out of oil...

Yes it is the same engine but the electrics are set up different.
You would need to strip all electrical components off your old engine including the fuel pump and put them on the donor unit.
