Dispack change
« on: 21 April 2011, 17:27:39 »

As a complete newbie to what most of you call a "proper" engine :D. On the breaker I need to change the dispack (3.0) to cure this multiple misfire. EP is posting me a known good replacement. My question: I`ve removed the scuttle, I can just about see the HBV. Can`t see the DIS. Is it as per the guide in maintenance or would removing other stuff make it easier :-[ :y

I suppose that whipping the plenum off would give better access... It's not really a major PITA to do so that's probably what I'd do :y :y

Lie on top of the plenum  :o look down the back of the engine to the right of centre and with the use of a torch you should see it! If you are still struggling follow the HT leads back from the plugs. It is easier with the plenum removed but not essential, I managed to squeeze my dispack out via the 2, 4, 6 side.  :y

When you say breaker, do you mean you intend to break the car for spares and need to replace the dis to prove the engine is ok? if that is the case dont bother removing the old one, just reconnect the leads and power plug to the new dis and leave it on top of the engine while you test it.
